Hotel City Palace
The entrance is one flight up and the reception area looks very professional. It is a favourite of European backpackers and mentioned in Lonely Planet. That's why the management thinks they are the best and can ask high prices
There rooms are very small 3x3m including the bathroom, or windowless and musty smelling and tiny.
There was cable TV, phone, hot shower, towels, clean sheets, and luggage storage and air-conditioning but at Rs 1350 (€24). It was much overpriced.

Hotel Oasis
Hotel Oasis in on the 3rd- 6th floors of an apartment block in a busy street. Rooms at the back are very quiet. We paid Rs 780 (€16) for a double with bathroom.
The hotel had recently been renovated and is clean and bright. Very friendly management. It is close to the Post-Office and Victoria Station (and therefore easy to find back).

Hotel Airlines International
Hotel Airlines International is five minutes from the domestic airport and fifteen minutes from International Airport. The hotel is well-maintained and has excellent service.
We had a double room including American breakfast and airport pick-up and drop drop. At $57 (€46) this is very good value for money.
The room was small, had two single beds, air-conditioning and a fan and television.. A tiny bathroom with complimentary soap, shampoo and shower cap. In the morning an English language newspaper was shoved under the door. Breakfast was served in the room. A small folding table was produced from under the bed and our brakfast was place don it: scrambled eggs on toast and tea. It took 15 minutes to prepare.
The room is slightly noisy as it is in the flightpath and has no double glazing.

Hotel Midland
Hotel Midland is only 5 minutes drive from the domestic airport and a 10 minutes drive from the international airport
As we arrived after midnight and we did not want the hassle of finding a hotel late at night, I had made a reservation. My e-mail was answered promptly.
The room was booked in advance and the price was $92 (€74) including American breakfast and airport pick-up and drop-off. Slightly expensive, but I could not check because their website didn’t mention prices.
When we got to Mumbai we were met at the airport all right but when we arrived at the hotel we were told that they were fully booked, that some mistake had been made.
We paid the agreed price at Hotel Midland and were transferred to Hotel Airlines International. (see tips). Later on I found out that this hotel charges $57 (€ 46) including American Breakfast and airport pick-ups and drop offs.
Someone became better of this deal. Guess who. more
