Nossa Senhora da Annunciada fortress
This is a historic fortress erected by the Portuguese in the XVI century from where you will enjoy excellent views of the island.
At the beginning of the XVII century the Dutch conquered the place, removed the Portuguese, destroyed the fortress, made some reforms, and called it Victoria.
It is located in Soya Ata, Ambon Baguala, at about 15 kilometres from Ambon (also known by Amboina) and the last metres you have to walk up until the top.
Besides the fortress there is a school in which walls you can notice a bust of Saint Francisco Javier, the Spanish Jesuit who evangelized Japan and the Far East (his tomb is in Goa, India).
