Puerto del Rosario - Spain This is a huge flat plain in northwest Fuerteventura, a area called Los Molinos (the windmills), many years ago this island was a heavily wooded and fertile place but when the Portuguese invaded they brought with them livestock and a need for timber. Within a couple of hundred years it was a semi-arid place fit only for goats of which there are now around 60.000, tourism is now the only industry which supports approx, 30.000 people.
