Hiroshima is a city that is technically only 63 years old as it has been rebuilt following the devastating day in August 1945 after the atomic bomb was dropped.
It is now laid out in a grid which makes it really easy to explore. The main train station is located to the north west of the city across the Enkogawa River and like with most stations in Japan they are all malls, with many shopping opportunities; another of the main shopping areas is along Hon-dori. It is a covered arcade with many local shops and runs from near the Peace Park all the away to Yagenbori-dori. It also boarder the night area, which has a concentration of clubs, restaurants, bars with other evening entertainment.
The things to see include: Hiroshima Castle, Shukkeien Garden, the A-Bomb Dome, the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, and I’m not sure there is much else. [edit text][editors]
