This is a protected desert park in the South of Jordan around 37 miles from the coast of the Red Sea (coastal town of Aqaba) and is also a Unesco World Heritage site.

It is known as The Valley of the Moon and rightly so, as the area is made up red sandstone and granite. It is so picturesque that you can spend many a days there enjoying the beauty and solitude.

There are around 25 separate camps sites dotted around, where you can have your base for a couple of nights. They seem secluded by generally you can seem them at the base of the rock formation. Your host will meeting you at the Information Office and you will be left at the campsite until the time you agree to be picked up. They will come in the evening and organise dinner around the campfire.

There are so many things to do here but by far the most popular is a desert trekking, rock climbing or 4x4 desert exploration. It cost around JD4; also a hot air balloon ride JD110. Quite expensive but both an incredible [edit text]  [editors]
