Petra is an incedible place to visit and is now one of the N7W and rightly so. The entrance fee an incredible JD50 (nearly 1:1 to the pound (GBP))

The most famous of the attractions is the Treasury and you can get there either by walking through the canyon or taking a horse drawn carriage. The carriages passes quickly along the cobble canyon floor until you reach the last corner before seeing the Treasury. The views are amazing from the edge. There is a little restaurant and facilities there which are essential as the area is hot, hot, hot.

But to be honest this is only one of the attractions of this area. The city is amazing, all the red rose or pink sandstone facades excavated over so many years. The best thing to do is get off the beaten track and explore some of the less popular buildings but with just as much grandeur. Also amazing is the Monastery, which is achieved through climbing 800 steps up the mountain. You can get a donkey to take you up but the walk is great [edit text]  [editors]
