The entrance to the University, one of the oldest in Europe (only behind of Salamanca, Oxford, in two or three more) is free, but you can buy tickets to visit two other wonders: the Biblioteca Joanina, a building of the XVII century, considered one of the most original and spectacular Baroque library in Europe, and the Capela de Sao Miguel, with its Renaissance character in the interior, the sumptuous tiles (azulejos) and magnificent Mannerist high altar retable.
