Because it was snowing and cold in Switzerland on the north side of the Alps and we were fed up with winter, we decided to go south and spend our holidays in Northern Italy. We went by car and to cross the Alps we used the convenient car transport trains through Lötschberg- and Simplon-tunnel. The first 3 days we spent in the Orta Lake region and then another 4 days around Garda Lake. There it was already spring and the nice piazzas in the towns invited for coffee and happy hour in the warm sun.
Tip: On Easter it's probably more relaxing to travel by boat than wasting time in the endless traffic jams around Garda Lake.
