Krishnattam, is a dance drama performed mainly in Guruvayoor temple in Trissur district, Kerala by a troupe affiliated to the temple. It is based on a sanskrit poem called "krishnagiti" written by the Zamorin King Manavedan of Kozhikode in 1654. It comprises of 8 plays including the birth of lord Krishna, defeat of kaliya (demon serpent), Krishna's playful young days, Slaying of Kamsa ( evil king and uncle of Krishna), Krishna's marriage to Rugmini and finally of course Lord Krishna's ascent to heaven. I have taken these frames when the troupe came to our local temple in Kozhikode to perform and am delighted to share it with u all. Hope you like it. Please let me know what you think afterwards.
