Oskemen is a very pleasant city, better known as Ust-Kamenogorsk, capital of Eastern Kazakhstan Region.

It's an industrial city, known for the metalurgical industry. However, it is also a city with a lot of gardens and green areas, especially near the rivers Ulba and Irtish, and near the point where these rivers meet, known as Strielka.

The region is one of the most beautiful in the country. Here you can find a lot of different landscapes: steppe, mountains, coniferous forests and lakes.

Next to the Russian border, in the east, is a natural reserve, where is Belukha (4506 meters) and Lake Markakol.

Ridder, in the north, has nice mountains and forests around, easier to visit than the reserved area. [edit text]  [editors]
