Macau (Macao) was the first and the last European colony in China. It was returned to China by Portugal on 20 December 1999, just a few hours before the Year 2000 Bug. It recently surpassed Las Vegas as the largest gambling city in the world in terms of revenue. However, it is a delightful place full of great Portuguese architecture, mystic Chinese temples... and yes casinos. The authorities have begun constructing flamboyant building effectively replicating architecture of world's most famous and glamorous cities along one street. Macau is fully geared for all types of tourists, and offer much wider spectrum of activities than Hong Kong.
