Ambohimanga - the Royal Palace
Ambohimanga used to be the capital of Madagascar, as this is where the royal palace stands. There are two palaces, in fact. One the very old one, which is very simple and dark inside. And the other one built later by the Queen. She was friends with Queen Victoria of England, apparently and had received many gifts from her. Ambohimanga, also referred as the Blue Hill - it is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is truly remarkable. The current capital, Antananarivo can be seen from the hill, and a few picturesque villages as well. The museum is a great showcase of history - remarkable for Madagascar, which had only be occupied by the humans for the last 2000 or 3000 years. [edit text]  [editors]
