Travel guide to Ankarana

Parc National de Montagne d'Ambre

Ankarana is a small place in the northern part of the main island of Madagascar. Itself it is not terribly remarkable, however the surroundings are incredible. The Parc National des Montagne d'Ambre boasting waterfalls, caves, rocks, lush forest, and lakes infested with crocodiles. There are a few species of lemurs there as well, but since the forest is quite dense they are not easily spotted. No public transport goes to the park, but transport can be arranged from Antsiranana (Diego Suarez). The park is big, so it is a good idea to take a guide as well.
