Hombori is a small town in south-central Mali in the red mountains, which are Africa's response to the America's Monument Valley. But the Malian version is a lot bigger and more dramatic. Hombori is split in two by the main road. The part on the hill is an interesting village, which boasts a huge house of the chief takes almost half the district. It is like a maze of households linked together. This stony part is picturesque and a showcase of traditional mountainous housing. The other part, by the main highway, is very simple. It is constructed in a more modern - basic rectangular - way. There are basic facilities by the road, such as eateries, very basic guesthouses and shops. Hombori is just few miles from the famous rock called the Hand of Fatima. Apart from the mountains around and the mountainous part of Hombori, there is not much to see in the town.
