Mosta - Good Friday

Mosta is a small town in central Malta and is a beautiful old city. Spectacular architecture and stories arise from the many myths of the city. The dome of the cathedral was erected from funds donated mostly by the locals (not from Rome) and it was erected over generations. The original place (not a small structure) of worship was later demolished and incorporated inside of the present structure! Now, still the fourth largest dome worldwide (after Rome and Istanbul...), St Mary’s dome is a masterpeice of construction.
Also, the church is regarded as having been the site of a World War II miracle. In 1942, while 300 people were praying in the church, an aircraft-borne bomb penetrated the dome and landed on the mosaic floor, unexploded! [edit text] [editors]
