Travel guide to Etosha National Park

Etosha Pan Lookout

Etosha is a wonderful national park and great for viewing the big five animals – Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Lion and Leopard. One of the main features of Etosha are the watering holes, where you can sit any time of the day or night and just watch the animals drink. The park is some 23,000sq km and has been a reserve since 1907. The centre of it is the salt pan surrounded by grass and a dry forest.

The park has a curfew whereby game drives can be completed from sunrise to sunset and if you are not at one of the rest camps by that time you'll be fined as the gates will be lock. I kind of felt like it was the people that are caged.

The facilities are really good here also, there is a bar, restaurant and swimming pool. They have four types of accommodation, economy bungalows, standard and luxury; then there is camping. If camping the facilities are excellent with kitchens, bathroom and toilets plus electrical points readily available [edit text] [editors]
