Travel guide to Otjiwarongo

Okonjima - Leopard

Otjiwarongo is about 250km north of Windhoek and only has a population of 12,000. It is a pretty little town and for the desert it is quite green and lush. It is said that it has very fertile and good pasture land that results in the main money earner - cattle farming and it is how it got its name. The Herero people the town Otjiwarongo which means ‘the place of fat cows’.
