A climb up Sarangkot is the poor man’s trek. Poor in the sense of a person, who doesn’t have the time, level of fitness or inclination to complete a Himalayan trek and is best experienced at sunrise.
If even semi fit the best way to explore this mountain is to start from the trail near the Phewa Lake in Pokhara, the climb should take two to three hours. Or cheat and arrange a taxi for about 100 rupees to take you up there. From the taxi drop off point there is a lookout point so if you are really unfit this is the best place to get some really great pictures of the Annapurna ranges. Failing that, you can continue up a mixture of concrete steps and footpaths to the top for really majestic views. It is meant to take around 45 minutes but it kind of takes your breath away. Sarangkot stands at only 1592 meters high. [edit text][editors]
