Scotland. For me it is a magical place, which I am willing to come back every year to have an opportunity to discover something new. Its expressive greenery owes to often rainfalls ,but I was always lucky and always had a few sunny days. From the very beginning I would recommend the route from England to Scotland the west road nr 68, not the highway nr M1/A74. It is on the road 68, on the hill named Caster Bar Scotland will greet you.
This variant of the route will allow you to visit absolutely beautiful Floors Castle (unfortunately I have not manage to get there yet), next you may head for a magnificent Edinburgh. In the summer you should see there Military Tatoo – amazing performance on the castle yard. In this region it is worthy to visit Roslin Chapel as well – that is marvelous Templar Church. The more you are in the north, the more fortresses, castles and highlands you may see. You may find there Eilean Donan Castle known from “Highlander”, you may visit the grave of Rob Roy, climb the highest peak Ben Nevis 1343m above sea level ,which seemes to be not very high, but you start your hiking from 50 m above sea level. I will not mention everything, because it could be boring and my aim is to encourage you. I will only mention about the Orkney Island, where you may find Skara Bara the oldest people settlement, magnificent Church of Italian prisoners and vastness of impressive wildlife and monuments.
