Travel guide to Geiranger

Even in a land of fjords, many of which might seem outstanding, the Geirangerfjord is considered one of the most beautiful - and rightly so. To see it, use the ferry between Geiranger and Hellesylt, preferably in both directions. There is an English commentary and a fine lounge with light snacks and coffee so that it is pointless to pay more on the 'tourist excursion’ boats.
Any route to Geiranger is a delight. It may be by water from Hellesylt or Ålesund or, in summer by bus from Åndalsnes over the Trollsnigge Pass and the Eagles' Highway with a car ferry in between.
The steep sides of the narrow fjord display some glorious waterfalls such as the ‘Seven Sisters’, ‘The Suitor’ and ‘The Bridal Veil’ and presumably provided the shelter to allow apricots and oranges to grow at some of the old farms near the water.
Other farms on the slopes are almost inaccessible and it is quite believable that the access rope was taken in when the tax man came. [edit text] [editors]
