I m just watching the events on Globo nowadays, comments, stars etc. All the time at most 10 members are speaking and also they always speak so confident for all topics, like photography, giving fair stars to the other members, about against politicism etc. but if you examine the site, these people are always feeding themselves, all the comments like "wwoooov perfect", nice etc. etc. , but if someone who isnt in these "ten members group" , take no comments or low ratings. It really begins to bother me. Globo begins to be someone's private site, someof my friends mentioned this for a long time but I m really tired of this.

regards,

Hi Burak

Member satisfaction and eagernes for participation are a delicate matter.

We had several talks about these topics lately you are not the only one that's concerned about this. I found about 10 topics in the forum that are more or less about these matters.

I know about some members who were at times really considering terminating their participation here. (even some people that are among those that contributed the most)

I feel a lot of compassion for your feelings.

It's really hurting when you contribute your work and you don't get the appreciation you think they are worth. Aren't we all participating here to get praise for what we do? Aren't we all a little bit extroverted and need others support for our well being?

If you compare your votes with what others get you will sure feel disappointed from times to times. Sometimes it's just to hard to understand why others are getting better votes for work you feel inferior to yours. When noticing this your mind begins to race and you try to figure out why!

You concluded that all must be some sort of conspiration of a inner circle that nobody has to penetrate. Others might reach another conclusion.

When I was going through those emotions of feeling missunderstood or being not treated fairly. I was also considering deleting everything I ever did on the site. But then I thought about why I invested so much time and passion into GLOBOsapiens and found out that I really had more fun than bad times here. I found out that i had to accept that all members here are individuals and have the same right as I to express my views. If others don't agree with me I don't have to explain them why and what, I just have to accept that this is their view.

By stepping back a pace and thinking about everything I found a cooler mood concerning GLOBO and also refrained from explaining every single vote I gave. Now I concentrate on the parts that are fun (and there are a lot here!) and refrain from everything else. And now I can enjoy GLOBO again as I enjoyed in the early days. :-)

I have been a member here for about two years and have seen members come and go. Some stayed and contributed more and more. Some were heavy users some time but stopped to contribute for reasons I can not know. Some members are active here on a daily base for some months then stop for some time and come back later some don't.

I do think that some members are concentrating on their "globo friends" aren't they allowed to do so? There are others who comment randomly. I could give you a few examples of people who got high votes for their work from the beginning but I don't like to get into this style of discussion.

I really hope you can find the immense joy this site can bring you again and don't stop participating in sharing the fun!

Have a great time

Martin

Hello Burak

Your comment has caused me to think about the manner in which i view the new matrial added each day on Globo.

I think i need to make some changes to my priorities. I also need ot ignore some of the re-actions to my contributions.

I know it is a warm feeling when someone praise our work or gives five stars.

There are other indicators of success. in your case remember already 36,000 visits to your site and three times album of the month is a proud record. No matter how many people may ignore or downgrade your work in future, there can be no doubt of its merit.

It is always useful to stop and review the point that has been reached in progress of a good project, The addition of comments to the photo ratings is i think a very good addition to the site,

Like you however i am always interested in the fact tha persons who award low points often omit any suggestion for improvement. Last time i challenged this, someone indicated that they had communicated the reason to the member by postbox.

Thank you for causing me to think

kind regards

hUGH

I want to chime in here with Burak, and possibly address some of Martin's points. I find myself less interested in GLobo since we have added the comments on pictures. I saw an increasing number of negative remarks about photos and even expressed my concern on a couple of occassions. In one instance I experienced a positive remark, kindly saying that this person thought the picture should have been rated higher, followed by a negative remark that the picture wasn't of much merit. This is a public forum and that was unnecessary.

A couple of times a week, I hop on without logging in, just to see if there is any discussion I can add value to or any thing on a destination that catches my eye. About once a week I log on, and I rate a couple of reports. I don't leave picture comments - I find a number of them rather elitist and non-inclusive. There has become a kind of inner clique of members on Globo.

I still think this site has a lot of merit. The numbers of new memebers it attracts is proof of that. Still, I started a report on day-by-day on the Inka Trail but can't bring myself to finish it. I feel disheartened.

My two cents,

Eire
