Hello again,

Following on from the Corsica question (refer to this forum), I'm also planning a visit to the Ligurian Coast.

I'd like to spend some time off season in the Cinque Terre, but am also interested in a little-known region south of La Spezia called the POET'S COAST.

It includes the towns/villages of Lerici and Tellaro and there is very little information around about it.

So, has anyone been? What's it like? Any recommendations?

Ciao and grazie...

You will love the Cinque Terre. We stayed at a nice hotel 200 yards from the Beach in Monterroso. It is called Hotel Palme.....But I would suggest trying to stay in Venazza - it was iur favorite of the 5 villages. Try the restaurant caled the Gambero Rosso, Make sure you visit the Blue Marlin pub when there .....super staff and lot's of fun.

Take a day trip on the train to Portofino - very nice but what a money pit!

I have also been to the Cinque Terre, and agree it's not to be missed (see http://www.whereisliz.com/italy/chap060.html for details about my first trip there).

But this spring I discovered Finale Ligure as another delightful spot... you can even stay in a 13th century brick castle that's been turned into a hostel. The beach is heavenly, the town is small, fun, picturesque. The passeggiata scene in the evenings along the promenade is colorful and lively.
