Really: its the Capitol of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan!
In the 1950s it was decided to build - sector by sector the city should grow, starting in 1961. Islamabad and Rawalpindi about 20km apart, are a one megatown. Quarters are set for orientation. The Center, a 8 lane boulevard called "Blue Area", arround you will find international hotels, airline offices and Embassies. Some markets and the Red Mosque, well know since july 2007.
May the city's highlight to visit is Shah Faisal Mosque, at the foot of Marghalla Hills, its said to be Asia's largest, as a gift of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. [edit text]  [editors]
