Shigar, Bazaar, Old Man

400 years old Shigar Fort, called “The Palace on the Rock”, is the former residence of the Raja of Shigar, who sold it and let himself built a new house nearby. It consists of the Fort/Palace, now a heritage guesthouse with an audience hall, serving as a museum of Balti culture, the “Old House” and the “Garden House”. Steep rock faces at his back, the former retreat in wartimes, facing on the opposite side of the valley high mountains, the Shigar stream and the old village of Shigar at its feet, it is built on a solid rock as if built for eternity.
