Batad rice terraces
Batad rice terraces
Batad is a small village located in the Illocos Norte region, hidden in Cordillera Mountains. The place is famous from its Ifugao rice terraces (togheter with Banaue, Mayoyao, Hapao and Kiangan are included on the UNESCO World Heritage list).
Batad's amphiteatre like stone walled rice terraces are widely considered as the world's most striking. The best time to visit the terraces is just before the harvest - June and December. Planting is also twice a year, roughly in August and in February. [edit text]  [editors]
