Obidos is said to be too busy for real enjoyment in the height of the season. However that may be, it was terrific in March and you would probably find, even in the season, that early morning and evening are OK.
It's a completely walled town with the old castle at the top serving as a pousada.
Further down the street are the village stocks and there are two fine gates. Near the main gate there's an aqueduct.
Behind the pousada its easy enough to get up to the wall and enjoy the view. Obidos apparently was once on the coast, though it's a bit inland now.
The restaurant near the church is perfectly adequate and far cheaper than at least one other just outside the wall. [edit text][editors]
