Elevador Sta Justa
charming iron lift designed by Raul Ponsard completed in 1902, will take 32 m above Rua de Santa Justa to a viewing platform. long queques for the lift hardly make the trip worth. Best solution is to go up with lift, and go down through the city. Price is 2,60 EUR. more
Marisqueira Popular
located in Lisbon downtown area, includes great seafood specialties available in portuguese cuisine. All this quality is provided at a reasonable price. I ate there the best fish soup in my life. You should try it. Almost all evenings was full. more
Lar Export Casa de Hospedes
This hostel should be the latest choice in Lisbon. Not well marked, in old building, with small not very clean rooms. In night was very cold ( I was there in December), so ask for additional blanket. There is a kitchen for guests. Price is 18 EUR per person. To go there take subway line "verde" station "Arroios" and 300 meters from Praca de Chile in small street. more

Restaurant Nilo
We went to this discreet restaurant with terrace, taken by friends of Lisbon and… that differentiates!
The restaurant Nilo, located in the charmer "baixa of Lisbon" near the beautiful "Rossio" and "Praça da Figueira", in a street with more than 20 restaurants, difference of the others to clearly have delicious Portuguese typical food, with fresh and quality products to prices very in account, with an honest and effective service.
I think to return there in Easter to eat the delicious rice of seafood and the codfish or perhaps to taste one of the typical "dishes of the day" like "cozido à Portuguesa" or "feijoada à transmontana". And last but not the least, to drink the delicious portuguese beer "sagres"...
Greetings and have a good travel more

Antiga Confeitaria de Belém
You should not leave Lisbon without tasting the world famous Belem cakes (Pasteis de Belem). Its formula is a secret and the real one you will only find it in this cafeteria from 1837 besides the Monastery of Saint Jerome. When you buy these cakes (the price for unity is 80 cents of euro), you have to eat them within three days.
They also serve good coffee and other sweets. more
Café Martinho da Arcada
This lovely restaurant was immortalized by the poet Fernando Pessoa. You can have a cup of coffee and observe the place and the pictures of Fernado Pessoa since the times when it was an intellectual point where the writers and artist of Lisbon gathered.
This Cafe and the “pasteis de Belem” close to the Monastery of Saint Jerome are two of the main musts in Lisbon. more
Papagaio da Serafina
This restaurant is outside of Lisbon, over a hill with attractions for children, in the middle of a lovely park.
The restaurant serves codfish and all kind of meats and good Portuguese wines at very interesting prices. You need a taxi to get there, but it is worth. If you go on Sunday, make a reservation beforehand. more
Cafe Luso (Noite de Fado)
In Bairro Alto there are several Fado Evening shows, all together, but after having seen all of them, my recommendation is Cafe Luso. You can get there through the famous Elevador da Gloria.
You can just pay a drink and watch fado, or have a dinner at the same time that the show. Show with two drinks will cost about 20 euro. With dinner is about 35 euro. The shows never finish until 1 AM. You can enter at 8 PM, for instance, and seat until 1 AM. Apart from fado songs there are folkloric shows with the public participation. more
Residencial Alegria Hotel
Obviously the 3 thumb rating goes with the low price, but unless you want a swimming pool, sauna or the like there's nothing wrong with it - no food but there's a good place for breakfast etc diagonally opposite.
Ask for the Avenida stop on the airport bus.
Comfortable en-suite rooms - very helpful and friendly with good English. more
Museu Calouste Gulbenkian
When a wealthy man collects from the very best and gives his collection to the state, you usually get something good. Here you get something outstanding. Not all that big -but quality - wow! more
La Bota Alta
Placed in Bairro Alto this is a very nice place, with little tables pretty close ones with another, tipical portuguese food and high relation prize-quality. Try any fish (bacalhau is the most tipical) and BOLO REI for dessert. You will find portuguese people along with tourists. The owners of the restaurant are very kind allways. No booking in advance, but if you call you can be the first to sit in the next empty table instead of waiting all the cue. more
