Hello,

I am looking for advice on companies organising sailings/cruises around the Galapagos Islands. I am not looking to spend a fortune there but realise that it might be difficult to find cheap trips.

Kind regards
Krys

hi,

Its 2 years since I was there and even then the organised cruises were prohibitive., but they are the only way to visit the uninhabited islands if you want to see as many animals as possible and dive. Many of the cruises were taken by tourists on package deals. I was back packing on a limited budget and as the main island was very disappointing I took a ferry to Isabela and enjoyed a week there chilling out. There is plenty to see and you can get a local boatman to take you out to scuba dive. You can rent equipment on the island.

I stayed in a small hotel run by a charming Swiss( Swedish?) lady and had a bungalow on the edge of the beach- fantastic!

The boat trip to and from the island was an experience, very fast very bumpy in an overcrowded motorboat so take a seasick pill if it looks a bit rough.

You can visit other islands by the same method

Remember to have plenty of dollars when you arrive as they took 100$ off me as I stepped out of the plane... National Park entry fee.

A really great place to visit

Good luck

Bielle
