Amsterdam - Netherlands, Noord-Holland The dominant ( and only ) feature of Dam Square is a 72ft limestone obelisk unveiled in 1956 on Dutch Memorial Day. Originally remembrance of Dutch soldiers killed in WWII, it was expanded in concept to memorialize all who died on war missions.
