The centerpiece of the City Park is Vajdahunyad, a Disney-like collection of buildings created for the 1896 millenium celebration. The included buildings demonstrate the architectural styles dominant in Hungarian history as captured by architect Ignac Alpar. The castle district is the most popular part of the park today.
The entrance to the castle district in the park is through a gothic gate modelled after a Romanian castle owned by Janos Hunyadi, a hero of the wars against the Ottoman Turks.
