Dresden - Germany, Sachsen August the Strong was obsessed with porcelain, calling it his "Madness". He once traded 600 of his soldiers for 150 Chinese vases, eventually amassing the largest collection of Asiatic porcelain in Europe. Under his sponsorship, the first porcelain made in Europe was in Dresden. The museum has 20000 pieces with 2000 on display at any time, housed in regal rooms with marble arches and columns from plans originally for the Japanese palace. The Porcelain Museum is a must-see in Dresden.
