With Liberty International Airport ( Newark ) to the west and JFK International Airport to the east, airplanes approaching LaGuardia airport from the south fly in a narrow corridor over the western parts of Brooklyn and Queens, sometimes looping over the western reaches of Nassau County on Long Island.
