I think it depends a little on what you are planning on doing. Information about when to visit regarding the weather is easy to obtain.
I myself visited the island for a diving week on the first days of January ( high season because of hollidays ) this year. The weather was pretty much overcast during the entire week with some light rain fall.
The diving was great, and although water was not very clear and visibility was far from great we had incredible inmersions with lots of fauna all the time. I always use the Lonely Planet's book's to find info. about prices, accomodations, things to do and when to go. I ould suggest them as a good travel guide.
