Spent a month travelling through Ecuador - Banos, Otavalo, Cotopaxi, Quito, Galpagos, the Oriente - all were very touristy and at times too pricey for my likeing - Banos struck me as being a bit like Mexico! - but my most memorable destination was Piedra Blanca in Bolivar province. If you want to get off the beaten track, I can't recommend it enough - loads to see and do - trekking, rafting in replica ancient boats, horseback riding, trips to ancient sites - no other tourists for miles, fully qualified local guides - it's a memorable visit. It's a community-run ecotourism project, so everything is organised (well) by the locals, and tourism revenue is used for local conservation projects. Go there! - the Piedra Blanca Community Ecotourism Project.

Hi Chris

Years ago I was climbing Cotopaxi to the first glaciers...

How does it look now? Any general entry fee?

The cost of climbing to the summit?

Thanks, greetings...

Wojtek
