I am opening this post for travelers that are interested in Argentina. Only focusing in BA as it has many attractive proposals for a week a month and probably years.

BA is very spread and spotted, 12 millions inhabitants make it a very large city. 47 neighborhoods with diffent characters are imposible to cover on a post. But again, I will try my best recommendations for Tango, Steaks (restaurants, not neccesarely meat ones), Wines (Not my specialty, my wife´s) and Outdoors. Estancias ( farms) , Tigre Delta Islands and Colonia in Uruguay.

Will answer once a week questions. My answer will not be the one of a professional TA but from a Porteño that enjoys and loves his city .

Go ahead !

Hey i'm moving to Buenos Aires this winter for langauge school. What do you know about Universidad de Buenos Aires en Belgrano??? I'll probably be doing a homestay for at least a couple of months. Would you suggest Buenos Aires? I'm looking for laid-back enviroment, fun night life, alot of things to experience and see, also def. want to travel! It seems for traveling Buenos Aires is the ideal location to start at! I also heard that b/c of the economic it's relatively cheap however in the Buenos Aires it's more expensive due to the bigger city, is this true? If there's anything you would suggest let me know!! Thanks.

Universidad de Buenos Aires is a Public one, Universidad de Belgrano private.

Guess boh have good Spanisk courses, same as Lenguas Vivas..

Yes BA is your best choice for base to trips in Argentina and BA sorroundings. its more expensive as any big city thou surely you will still find prices moderate or very cheap (especially for local transport and food, not for flights that are expensive or rather exp.) A good B&B in trendy and young Palermo Viejo or a furnished rental might be your best choice.

Think BA needs to be walked ! and its lots of fun, Porteños are very friendly with visitors week end are very alive in nigh life, restaurants , dancing clubs...!

"Musts" while in BA are the Iguazu Falls ( 2 / 3 days) , Mendoza if a wine/ ski fan, or the NE provinces as Salta , Jujuy and Tucuman ( especially in wintertime.

As for summer Patagonis is a must too. ( Think in Bariloche/ Villa La angostura...Calafate/ Torres del Paine in Chile, Ushuaia...Antartica...but

Give a look at http://www.welcomeargentina.com

http://www.interpatagonia.com

http://www.easybuenosairescity.com

http://www.saltshaker.net ( food n wines in BA)

Maybe Trip advisor will help

Enjoy BA that whisers Tango steaks n Malbecs and screams night life !

Good vibes ! <p>[ This Message was edited by: santiagov on 2006-06-07 07:35 ]

Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it! I'm wondering what kind of reputation does public vrs. private schools have in Argentina? I heard that the private school are better especially in Buenos Aires. Also, i see that the average tempetures during your winter is 18 celcius which is comparable to 50 degree's. How cold can Argentina get? Also, i'll be doing some travels while i'm there about how much would a ticket to Brazil during carnival cost? There's alot of dometic deals made through the Argentinean airport is this legit?

I will never ever forget Buenos Aires and Argentina. Best steaks in the whole world, I buy them at "Aldi" in Germany till today!

Best wines come from South Africa, Australia, California, Chile and certainly also Argentina. Funny, all very south!
