Albergue Acuario
You have right to 1 night for free in Monte do Gozo shelter if you are a pilgrim. But Santiago de Compostela is such a fascinating town that you should stay there for a few more days. This hostel is very popular among pilgrims. You just pay a donation of 5 euros per night in a dormitory. You can use the washing machine. more

Casa do Dean (Dean’s House)
In the first floor of this old building (baroque style) several nice girls will furnish you the document “Compostelana” if you have arrived to Santiago as a pilgrim, on foot at least for the last 100 kilometres, or 200 if you came on bicycle. With this Compostelana you have right to three daily meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during three days in the 5 stars hotel and restaurant Los Reyes Catolicos, in the plaza del Obradoiro, where the Cathedral is located. You also have other rights when in possession of this document, like in the old times, such as crossing rivers for free (the boatmen confer to the Compostelana a high respect). more

Follas Novas
This is a very good bookstore where you can find all kind of information regarding UNESCO protected town of Santiago and all the possible pilgrimages along the Camino de Santiago, from France, from Portugal, from Andalucia, and so on, as well as regarding the trekking to Finisterre, in the Atlantic Ocean, with the names and addresses of the shelters, restaurants, highlights, etc. more

Restaurante El Bombero
Familiar restaurant within the walls of Santiago. It is located up in the second floor of the pedestrian street Franco, at 2 minutes walk from the Cathedral. They offer good business lunch cheaper than the competitors around Franco Street. more

Hospedaje Santa Cruz
Nice hostel within the walls. Single rooms for 15 euros, double per 30 euros. The showers are inside the rooms. Breakfast not included. Pleasant staffs. more

Café Bar Catedral
Good breakfasts with typical Spanish churros for a good price. Located In the historical part of Santiago. Generally speaking, in Franco Street you will find dozens of good and affordable restaurants. more

Carpe Diem
Good restaurant in the historical part of Santiago. Their speciality is seafood and also the expensive (but not so delicious, according to my experience) lamprea, a parasite fish living in the rivers sucking the blood of bigger fishes, to which gets fixed, like a tick, but never gets to kill its preys. more

San Lazaro
Pilgrims guest house at moderate prices. It is a wonderful meeting point for pilgrims to exchange experiences ovout the Camino and to find companions to undertake the Finisterre (end of the world) complementary pilgrimage until the Atlantic Ocean. It is near Santiago downtown and very convenient if you can afford the low price instead of going to the free of charge shelter outside of Santiago that is a very depressing place. more

Suso
This is a very pleasant place in the downtown of Santiago where to enjoy the city night life after having done the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. Prices are moderated and breakfasts generous. more
