Kandy is the cultural centre of Sri Lanka. The lake is the focus of the town and gives a very serene and artistic setting. You will feel the surrounding hills coming alive as you take a stroll along the lake.
This is where you can find the Temple of the Tooth, and houses one of the teeth of Lord Buddha. All around the temple you will be impressed with the sheer quantity of Buddha statutes, and the paintings on the walls and elaborated decorated ceilings.
Must-do also include attending a cultural show, learning how batik prints are made, and a trip to the tea plantation for fine Ceylon tea!
Whilst at Kandy, make a trip to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and catch the daily elephants' procession to the river for a bath. [edit text][editors]
