Nuwara Eliya, or, "city of lights" is in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Situated at an altitude of about 2000 metres above sea level, it is a pleasant hill-station. Nuwara Eliya is also an important centre of the tea production in Sri Lanka.
Places to see :
1. The natural beauty of the place with lush green tea plantations all around. A visit to a tea-factory can be interesting. Also there are lot of tea-selling outlets attached to the various plantations . Nuwara Eliya town itself is a mixture of old British style houses and new constructions.
2. Gregory Lake near the Nuwara Eliya town.
3. Sita Eliya, 2 kms from Nuwara Eliya town. This has a temple dedicated to LordRama and Sita. According to legend, this is the spot where Ravana had kept Sita imprisoned in the epic Ramayana. [edit text][editors]
