Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya, or, "city of lights" is in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Situated at an altitude of about 2000 metres above sea level, it is a pleasant hill-station. Nuwara Eliya is also an important centre of the tea production in Sri Lanka.

Places to see :
1. The natural beauty of the place with lush green tea plantations all around. A visit to a tea-factory can be interesting. Also there are lot of tea-selling outlets attached to the various plantations . Nuwara Eliya town itself is a mixture of old British style houses and new constructions.
2. Gregory Lake near the Nuwara Eliya town.
3. Sita Eliya, 2 kms from Nuwara Eliya town. This has a temple dedicated to LordRama and Sita. According to legend, this is the spot where Ravana had kept Sita imprisoned in the epic Ramayana. [edit text] [editors]
