Not petrified from Pompeii, this was made at a beach on the stunning Gower peninsula, Wales. Find a spot close to the water's edge where the sand is firm but not too wet, stick your hand in, pour in the plaster, wait for it to set and voila, a "handy" candle holder! A foot can become a doorstop!
WARNING Do not try to make casts of your hand at home using a bucket of plaster! As plaster sets it heats up...a lot!...you could suffer serious burns. Anyway, going out to the beach is much more fun...you'll only need the plaster and a bucket, there's plenty of water to be found!

Jorge - I don't feel qualified to make a technical assessment of this kind of photo but, strictly without precedent, I've rated it 5* for the great idea. Happy Christmas to you too.
