I've just checked my recent report to see how many evaluations I've got so far and by chance I saw one of the advertisement posted next to my report 'Single Chinese girls' by http://www.chinesekisses.com. I am getting really furious about that!! How come this can be allowed?

Andreas, if it is not taken out, I am going to leave globosapiens. I'm sorry to be rude but I think this is something unacceptable to me. I would only allow travel ads connected to this site!

Hello Sharon,

the ads on GLOBOsapiens are filled by Google. Their system does match the ads to the text automatically. I have placed the ULR you named on the filter inside their system which should result in dropping that ad within the next 48 hours.

Best regards,

Andy

Excellent idea with the filter, however I checked the site and it actually did not appear sexual or abusive in nature. It was more of a dating page, I think. Although I don't know what happens once one registers onto the site. And I agree it would be better if the ads were travel related only.

Kindest regards.

Thanks Andy! I really appreciate your attention and efficiency. Frankly, I haven't clicked on the link. But even it is just for dating, I still don't like it to be on this traveling community.

Cheers and greetings from Denmark

Hello,

I agree. The should only be travel related. We do have the channel travel at google and the only thing we can do is to add URLs we do not like in a filter. Due to their instructions it will take up to 48 hours to include the filter on that URL.

Despite the fact that we do have the channel "travel", google tries to do the perfect match. This is a huge company and their ads are installed pretty much everywhere. If you are on a public computer there could be another reason for this. I have found that google also does some "behavioral targeting" which means that they track on which pages the computer was before and what people search for on their google sites. I have found ads on cars at other sites that do have nothing to do with cars more often after I was searching for a car on google. So if you are using a computer on a public space or if you share your computer that might also be a reason for it. Just a guess, google does not share their matching algorithm. After all, those ads are the only ones that work. Probably because they match so well. Other ad networks do not lead to any clicks and GLOBO only gets payed if someone does click on the ads. Perhaps this is why they are still in business and most others did shut down :-) Look at how much yahoo is struggling and might be overtaken now by Microsoft! Can you imagine?! Microsoft?! Anyway.. that is off topic :-)

Best regards,

andy

The time delay may seem unfortunate but I don't think it is a big deal. Hopefully the photos will be visible for a long time and it should only be travel items that appear beside them.

Well done Andy - but I hope it doesn't open any flood-gates. I should only worry about ads accompanying my own pics if the ads were blatantly terrible or if somebody else expressed distaste.
