Hi everybody:

you have for sure noticed the new place for a banner on GLOBOsapiens.net

I would like to start a discussion regarding this topic. There is for sure a need to serve banners anywhere on GLOBO, since everything on this portal is free and money is needed for server, marketing etc. Personaly I do not like banner adds and do not believe in the success of them. However, there has to be anywhere on GLOBO a banner space. Right now the banners are part of an exchange program. This means we serve a banner and another member of the banner exchange network serves one of ours. If we reach a certain amount of page views, we might be elligable for payed adds pulling some money into costs for flyers, marketing and development of new features on GLOBO.

How do you experiance the new Place for banners. Is this an OK thing or does it pxxx you off? Would they be a reason not to use GLOBO anymore, or are they accepted like on all the other sites. Maybe you have a good suggestion?

As the founder of GLOBOsapiens.net I will try to keep the banners static and nice as possible. Serving as less advertising as possible. On the other hand it would be a great thing if you guys click once in a while on the banners (once the payed once come up) to sponser GLOBO. The average click rates on banners are about 1 - 2 %. I hope we will be above that, since every click will give us more power to nagotiate with advertisers.

Let me know what you think about all this and put your contructive critics here.

Thanx,

Andy

Hello Andy,

usually I don't like banner adds, especially the sex-banners you can find all over the web. But I understand that there must be a way to finance this excellent travel community. So for me it's O.K. to post advertising on GLOBO.

;-) Corinna.

Hi Andy,

I have no problem with you serving banners the way you do. I'm not disturbed. Yet I don't think that I'll click on 'em. But that's the banner's job then to convince me.

Joe

P.S. You might want to amend the "how" into a "who" on your bottom line: Only the one how sets the unreachable as his goal, will achive the maximum possible.

Hello Joe,

thanx for your reply (and your hint on the spelling error :-)

I disabled the ads because currently there is no chance to get an advertiser because the whole market is down. A page has to reach at least 500.000 page viewes a month to get ads at the moment (GLOBO has about 100.000). Our community is online now for about 4 months. Maybe the page viewes will increase in the next months. We'll see how it is going. Since yesterday we do have a remarcable ranking at google!

Cheers,

Andy
