The trip: 8 days total --
Lodging: Emeraldview Guesthouse B&B-HILO, Keahou Resort - Kona & Arnotts Lodge (hostel & campground) HILO...Things I did that you'll see in my pics: see Rainbow Falls, 4mile scenic drive, swim with green sea turtles, visit Miloli'i point (local surf spot), drive to the true Southernmost Point of the US, hike to a private black pebble beach (between Kona & the resorts), visit a portion of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, hike to see flowing lava (very very tough hike), trek to a private lava tube off Hwy 11 (near MM 38), take a whale watch tour in Kona (they are never on your side of the boat! (grin) - Manta Rays here too, eat at Ken's pancake house (yes its like a landmark in Hilo)
go to the top of Mauna Kea, stargaze @9200ft (saw Saturns rings, nebulas, so so many stars),
swim in the morning and make a snowball in the evening! what a trip!..............
interesting people I met:
Brian from Boston who builds houses & is travelling the world right now! Go Brian---
Heather from New Zealand---
The Estonians - have no idea what there are names are but they sure chugged alot of beer after hiking lava---
the MD in KFC who was sailing from WA to San Diego and then on to Sumatra to work - what a lucky cat he has sailing w/him!---
Mike R- from work on Oahu who inspired me to break out the black and white film and filters to take two shots in the album (sun setting w/red filter ) and (palms w/green filter)-----
All I can say is I can't wait to go back get more water time, do some ATV'ing on the north area and hit the summit again.
