Longyearbyen travel tips

The booking is made directly or through the travel agency Wild Life (better through Wild Life because they make discount). It is located at a few minutes walking outside of Longyearbyen (watch the bears!). This was a former residence for the miners dating from 1946. It is very nice and convenient, and not expensive. I recommend it. I had a look at it and liked it, but finally, since I was very short of money, decided to sleep for free in the Public Library, upstairs of the Protestant Church, which is free, 24 hours open with gratis hot tea and delicious biscuits at your discretion. more

Svalbard Wildlife Services 
They organize excursions in the archipelago. I booked them a one day excursion in snowmobile (riding at over 100 kilometres per hour!) to the Russian town of Barentsburg to buy vodka. Their prices are expensive (everything is expensive in Svalbard except the alcohol!) but they made me discount. more
