Your report brings me back to those exciting days of the change of leadership in Russia.

While I missed the full excitement that your group experienced, I had wonderful adventure in Kemerovo in December 1991.
We lived through a few days when our air tickets and passports were held by our host who was reluctant to let us depart.

We flew out to Sankt Petersburg where the name was so recently changed from Leningrad that the airport public address announcer giggled each time she tried to say the new name.

Hello Tanja! I enjoyed reading your new report on Tomsk. I wish you had written more about what it was like to suddenly find yourself in the midst of a war zone! That's got to be an interesting story...
