Bangkok travel tips

Bangkok airport to Sukhumvit
UPDATE!! A taxi into central Bangkok is cheaper than you think, and more convenient than the bus. BUT BEWARE! as you come out of arrivals you'll be set upon by many taxi/ limosine touts that will charge you up to 5 times the standard rate. So here's what to do; firstly dont even entertain these taxi touts, keep walking and head to EXIT 4, once outside look right for a large desk, usually they have a TAXI sign up. They are the official airport taxis and charge much LESS etc, the taxis are either blue & red or green & yellow, or pink or orange. Give the full address of your accommodation, they will get you a taxi right away. Once they give you a slip of paper go to your taxi, you'll pay a surcharge of 50 Baht to the driver ontop of your fare. Make sure the driver puts on the METER, I have gotten to the sukhumvit, central Bangkok for as little as 300 baht, sometimes up to 400 baht including Tollway of 65 baht. If traffic is busy expect to pay a little extra. more

Sukhumvit to MOCHIT bus station,bangkok
from the Sukhumvit, Bangkok the best way and most conventient method to get to MO CHIT bus station is by metered taxi. at most 150 Baht including the 40 Baht highway toll fee. MO CHIT bus station connects most of Thailand by 'BUS'. some buses can be like a shanti on wheels, but mostly you can book a aircon bus, usually it includes light refreshments, however, if your journey is at least 4 hours then i recommend you take any food/ drink you may need. there are 7-11 food stores at the bus station for all kinds of snacks, drinks & basic hot take away - spicy sausages. N.B. try to get your hotel to write down in thai your destination and ticket type required, this makes everything much easier. more

Make a Day of the River Taxi
Start in the morning by taking the skytrain S to Sasphan Taskin station. Head toward Central Pier once off the train. There should be signs or ask. You want the pier to the left. Tha Sathorn is the name. Hop on the next one that comes. Make sure you head north toward Nonthaburi Pier, there are maps at the piers. There are stops for Chinatown, Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Banglamphu, and more. Take it all the way to the end getting on and off when you see something interesting. Then just catch another boat when you are finished looking around. It is really cheap and easy. more

Mid range hotel with skytrain station reached from within the hotel. Clean rooms will all ammenities. Restaurants are a bit on the pricey side. Breakfast buffet was expensive if it didn't come with your room. I found the staff very friendly most of the time. Pool was nice as well.
