Koh Samui fits the description of a tropical island but if you don't want to share your bit of paradise with the tourist hordes you will need to head away from the main Chaweng and Lamai beach strip.
The island still has many secluded areas but if you are looking for something a little more low key head over to Bophut - it has loads more character and charm. [edit text][editors]
