On my first visit to Germany I went to Dusseldorf, but I was invited to Munich to attend a conference and could not resist seeing another side of Germany
Munich Skyline - from Wikipedia
The drive from the airports was stunning, it appeared that we were approaching the mountains that was way off. Its was a lovelyplace. The shopling area was fairly extensive, and had a tram running thorugh the sentre of town.
Munich History - Munich is a city filled with history. Munich has been developing since the 12th century. This lasting city has been through kings, world wars but yet still continues to grow. This growth can be seen while exploring the streets. There is an example of different types of architecture styles, such as medieval, Roman up to modern styles are through out.
Apologies for the lack of pictures; I lost my film while processing and don't have a single shot of this great city - oh the beauty of digital.
Favourite spots:
The park in the centres of town was greate. There were places to eat and gget a beer. The funny thing was a walking to through it, and find men sunbathing in the nude, yes you heard me naked as the day they were born. It was so shocking that it was comical. The funny thing was thatit only seems to be the old men that took up the challenge - hmmm that is speaking volumes
What's really great:
Well it wasn't the food, as I ended up eating somthing that I hada bad reaction and was rushed to hospital. Luckily I had insurance as the whole affair cost me over 500 Euros.
Not really a spot but Oktoberfest is a big draw to the area. This festival starts in middle of September and runs into October; and is a great excuse to drink lots beer, eat sausages, and sing until the wee hours. Beside the beer tents there are other tents selling local items, rides for the children and more of a whole family festival. The Germans love their festivals. Without fail there is always some kind of fest going on each month.
Sights:
Munich is great to explored on foot as there are many pedestrinised areas knows as Fussgangerzones.
Here are some other things to do in Munich:
1. Neues Rathaus is located on 8 Marienplatz, it is the New Town Hall. 2. Olympic Park was designed in 1972 for the Olympic Games. 3. Marienplatz iis one of the pedestrinied areas and a great base to explore the city. 4. Hellabrunn Zoo is situated on Tierpark Street, next to the Istar River. 5. Englischer Garten is located on the outskirts of Munich. 6. Theatinerkirche St. Kajetan located at 22 Theatinerstrasse. 7. Cathedral Church of Our Lady located at 1 Frauenplatz. 8. Ludwigstass 9. Hofbrauhaus (see Restaurant section) 10. Altes Rathaus Old Town Hall also located on the Marienplatz.
Accommodations:
I stayed at this fantastic hotel and the best hotel I've stayed in while.
This is a really lovely hotel, situated in the heart of Munich, close to quite a few tourist attractions on the Promenadeplatz. It has good transports connections (there is a tram stop right outside of the hotel) and is very close to an extensive shopping area.

Restaurants:
he Hofbrauhaus is considered “the most famous pub in the world” and its a place to enjoy the wonderful Bavarian evening, filled with entertainment, lots of drinking and eating, fun and dancing.
The food is great, I had shoulder-cut pork roast with cracklings, potato dumpling, bread dumpling and homemade bacon-cabbage salad, but the drink is better. All waitress are dressed in local attire and this just adds a wonderful feel,
