I'm not sure if this is off Globo-topic or not but I wanted to share this with other photographers here. About six weeks ago I purchased 2 flash units from www.cambridgeworld.com and paid through Paypal. I asked them what the postage would be on the items and they quoted it. I waited an awful long time before I e-mailed them again asking about the shipment and their response was, "Sorry, we don't have any of those".
I then did some research and apparently the NY 'Better Business Bureau' is well aware that they recieve monies without shipping the goods. (The fact that they could still be in business could only be put down to 'God bless America!). I had falseley assumed that if Paypal was offered as a means of payment on a site that it meant they were OK.
I am not so distraught about the money, but the equipment is really important to me and my hasstles to get it is costing me big-time.
Thank you very much for this.
I would never have suspected pay pal of being capable of miuse by some fraudulent operator.
It adds a further layer of caution to my use of internet payments.
