It is set just before and during the civil war but mainly in the early years of WW2. It seems to be deeply researched - he is a historian - and I feel it has to be a brilliantly accurate portrayal of the atmosphere in which people were living. Of course I know that for many Spanish people this is a period that they find difficult to talk or write about but it would be interesting if any of our Spanish members should feel able to comment. --- Grieve not for that which you cannot do but rejoice in that which you can.
