In Tobago there is basically one road that takes you all the way around; starting from Scarborough along the Claude Noel Highway until it meets the Windward Road. The road is cut into the side of the rock and winds its way to ‘country’; the village of Belle Garden is very small but it still has the country life feel.
It gets its name from a daughter of a French land owner – Belle; who loved to grow things and it was said that she had the most beautiful flowers in her garden. People would travel from far and wide to see Belle’s Garden.
The garden is long gone, but the green lush vegetation still makes the area perfect with the lovely, small, secluded Belle Garden bay just right for that impromptu plunge. Mainly used by fishermen, however as it is out of the way it can be quite romantic. [edit text][editors]
